Broken heart syndrome is more commonly seen in women than in men, postmenopausal, mostly due to hormonal differences.
Broken heart syndrome is triggered by natural disasters, shock due to the death of a close relative or friend, financial problems, personal trauma, accidents, or surgery.
However, this condition need not get treatment methods such as angioplasty or heart bypass surgery.
