The International Monetary Fund warned the government around the world that the COVID-19 pandemic will leave severe economic damage on women and they should take action against it.

COVID-19 pandemic led to the worst global recession since the 1930s Great Depression and at the same time, rolled back 30 years of gender-based fights such as job opportunities, access to education, and fight against cultural atrocities.

The IMF said governments needed to use the full power of their tax and spending toolkit to provide support to the most vulnerable people and protect employment.

Sustainable recoveries to help women include investing in education and infrastructure, subsidising childcare, and offering paid parental leave.
