It is healthy to fast for as long as 23 hours as it is cited in many religions and cultures. 

It helps in reducing the blood sugar levels in the human body, according to 2017 study published by the World Journal of Diabetes.

Fasting helps in extending life expectancy by reducing inflammation, according to the study published in the journal Nutrition Research. Another study suggested that fasting can help prevent neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and increase human growth hormone (HGH) secretion ( a protein hormone), which is vital for metabolism.
