Period flu is a disease women suffer from before or during their periods. They experience flu-like symptoms such as headache, nausea, and even fever during their periods.

Hormones such as prostaglandins are produced to help the uterus shed its lining.

Sometimes, excess of these hormones causes uneasiness like cramps, constipation and excessive gas formation during periods.

Added to that, chemical changes such as fluctuations in serotonin and other chemicals in the brain leads to this issue.

Notable symptoms other than fever include:

  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle cramps

It can be prevented or delayed with proper hydration, daily exercise and proper food habits.
