When it comes to the personal life romances of renowned personalities, it seems interesting to understand that some of them found their love beyond boundaries. Celebrities from all walks of lives made exceptions by choosing their partners who are from other countries.

It's not anything new, it had been happening among all generations, the latest being Priyanka Chopra who chose singer Nick Jonas as her man.

Here are 12 celebrities who found their love outside India.

1. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra, a highly successful actress and model is also the winner of Miss World 2000. An acclaimed celebrity both in Bollywood and Hollywood, Priyanka married her love Nick Jonas, an American singer during early December 2018 that included both a church wedding and an elaborate Indian style wedding.

Their wonderful union was a closed-door event of four days that they celebrated with close friends and family.

The couple’s 18-foot tall wedding cake became an overnight sensation on the Internet. The multi-tiered cake was made by Nick’s personal chefs from Dubai and Kuwait.

Nick’s unexpected expression of emotion during the wedding left many of their fans teary-eyed. Nick said, “The emotions were running high during the ceremonies, I think especially during the Western wedding for me.”

2. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik

Sania Mirza, one of the most successful woman Tennis player from India who is also a six-time Grand Slam winner got married to Pakistan Cricketer, Shoaib Malik in Hyderabad on April 12, 2010.

Their cross border love proved to be admired as these two colossal athletes left no concept of borders in their love story.

The couple had to fight many battles for their reunion because of the prevailing tensions between India and Pakistan. Both of them also faced the ire of social media. However, finally, their love won. The couple now is blessed with a child.

Sania is now preparing for the Olympics, where she will be representing India. Shoaib continues to play Cricket for Pakistan.

3. Preity Zinta and Gene Goodenough

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta is known for her roles in movies Dil Se, Veer-Zaara, and Kal Ho Na Ho, after a couple of relationships, found her true love in Gene Goodenough. Gene was working as a Senior Vice President of US-based Hydrolic Power Company when they tied the knot on February 28, 2015.

The couple kept their marriage plans and venue as a secret until the last minute. Finally, she referred to their marriage as a ‘happy space with a happy guy’.

After two years of marriage, Preity adds on her husband’s name to her own name to call her Preity G Zinta.

4. Shashi Tharoor and Christa Giles

After the legal separation from Tilottama Mukherji, Shashi Tharoor married Christa Giles in 2007 after a long relationship. Christa was the Deputy Secretary of the United Nations Disarmament Commission.

At this time period, he was about to join politics. He has mentioned before about the personal sacrifice and ‘pain of separation’ from his wife, Christa.

After a couple of years, Shashi Tharoor and Christa Giles ended their marriage legally.

Later, he married Dubai based entrepreneur Sunanda Pushkar. Her controversial death on Jan 17, 2014, is a haunting episode that still is affecting his career and reputation. He, however, is fighting a legal battle to come out of it.

Tharoor is an acclaimed writer, politician, and is currently serving as Chairman of the Congress Parliamentary Standing Committee.

5. Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendall

Bollywood’s remarkable hero Shashi Kapoor often regarded as the hazel-eyed gentlemen married to English actress Jennifer Kendall in July 1958.

Their love story is considered to be a tale of true love that transcends beyond life and death. These couples were said to have the most beautiful union of times.

Their love for performing arts led to the foundation of renowned theatre ‘Prithvi’ in the year 1978.

Shashi was completely shattered after the death of his wife in 1984 due to Colon cancer. After losing her to Cancer, he fell into deep depression and said to have never recovered from it completely.

He breathed his last on 4 December 2017 after a long-standing liver and heart complications.

Together the couples are having three children: Kunal Kapoor, Karan Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor. Taking forward the legacy of her parents Sanjana is very active as a theatre artist.

6. Salim Khan and Helen Richardson

The renowned Indian film actor, Salim Abdul Rashid Khan was already married when he met Helen during the end of 1970s. Sushila, however, was in harmony with Salim’s desire to marry Helen. She consented their marriage and decided to step out from her matrimony with Salim. Salim married Helen in 1980.

At a later stage, Sushila also moved in back to Salim’s life. Today the three of them make a happy family. Together they have four biological children Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, Alvira and an adopted daughter Arpita Khan.

7. Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi

The not-much-talked about the love story of politicians Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi is also beyond cultures and countries.

Rajiv Gandhi saw this efficient Italian woman Sonia Manio in 1956 at London’s Varsity Restaurant where she was working as a part-time waitress in the hotel.

Rajiv Gandhi, the second son of Indira Gandhi and grandson of Jawaharlal Nehru comes from one of the most powerful political families from India. The South Indian actress  Shriya Saran married her boyfriend Andrei Koscheev, an established tennis player in a secret ceremony in 2018 at Udaipur. They got married according to the Hindu rituals as per reports.

12. Saif Ali Khan and Rosa Catalona

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan had an interesting love life with model Rosa Catalona for a couple of years from 2004. This was after his separation with Amrita Singh. Rosa is a swizz model born in Italy. They met in Kenya for an event and were in live-in relationship.
