Amit Shah Criticised For Telling Citizens To Use Hindi

NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been slammed by many sections for telling the citizens to progressively use Hindi, on the occasion of ‘Hindi Diwas.' 

Amit Shah added that more and more Members of the Parliament have been speaking in their own regional languages since 2014. 

"The progress of India is contained in the coordination of mother tongue and official language. Wishing you all a very Happy Hindi Divas,” he said. 

He added that Hindi, as a language, has only complemented and strengthened other regional languages and that it never competed with any local language.

Amit Shah said that the New Education Policy (NEP), envisaged by Modi, has provisions for the promotion of regional and Hindi languages. 

Netizens slammed his comments, called it Hindi imposition.
