NEW DELHI: Ashish Mishra has been arrested in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. He is the son of Union minister of state for home affairs Ajay Mishra Teni.
"He was produced before the judicial magistrate and the police had demanded three-day custody, to which we objected," said his lawyer to the media.
Deputy inspector general Upendra Agarwal said Ashish Mishra was arrested because he was not cooperating during the interrogation.
Violence broke out in Lakhimpur's Kheri where eight people were and out of that four were farmers. Ashish Mishra is the sixth accused in the crime.
Supreme Court questioned the non-arrest of the accused, directed preservation of evidence and mulled transferring the probe.
