MUMBAI: Chandro Tomar, world's oldest sharp shooter also known as "shooter dadi," died after her struggle with COVID-19.
She died in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut after being hospitalised with breathing problems at 89 years of age.
Bollywood actresses Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar paid tribute to her.
Pednekar, who herself was infected with COVID-19, played Tomar on-screen.
Bollywood filmmaker Tushar Hiranandani directed a biopic on her and her sister Prakashi Tomar titled 'Saand Ki Aankh.'
Taapsee and Bhumi played Prakashi and Chandro Tomar respectively.
While the film received acclaim, the decision to cast younger actresses wearing old-age makeup met with flak; notably from veteran actresses Neena Gupta and Soni Razdan.
