SHANGHAI, CHINA: Twitter has locked the account of China's U.S. embassy over a tweet that defended the treatment of people in Xinjiang region and dehumanisation of Uighur women.

@ChineseEmbinUS posted a Tweet that said that Uighur women were no longer "baby-making machines."

The tweet was removed and the Chinese embassy's account has not posted any new tweets since Jan. 9th.

This suspension came following Trump’s outing from the White House. His Administration accused China of committing genocide in Xinjiang, a finding also endorsed by the incoming Joe Biden administration.

As per reports, 1 million Uighurs and other Muslims had been detained in camps, in a bid by the country to "correct" them and prevent them from becoming terrorists.

Women were sexually abused and reportedly underwent forced sterilisation.
