COVID-19: India Records Lowest Single-Day Spike, Dr Randeep Guleria On Future Outbreaks

NEW DELHI: India has recorded the lowest single-day spike since the second wave of the disease began with 92,596 cases reported in 24 hours and 2,219 deaths due to the disease. 

There are 2,90,89,069 total number of COVID-19 cases in India and out of that, 12,31,415 are active cases, 2,75,04,126 people recovered, and 3,53,528 people died. 

Dr. Randeep Guleria, AIIMS Delhi Director, said there is no data to show that children will be seriously infected in any next wave of COVID-19, from India or outside. 

He said 60-70% of children with a severe degree of illness had comorbidities or low immunity. 

Multiple waves of the disease occur mostly due to the presence of a susceptible population.
