Cyclone Burevi Away From Kerala Coast, IMD Issues Red Alert

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cyclonic Storm Burevi is reported to be 40 km away from the Kerala coast, with four districts under red alert. 

Four districts are given red alert;  Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin informed that Burevi is very likely to move west-northwestwards and emerge into the Gulf of Mannar near the Mannar coast.

Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 70-80 gusting to 90 kmph would be centred very close to Pamban and is likely to cross south Tamil Nadu coast between Pamban and Kanyakumari on December 4th morning. 

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that in order to deal with the crisis, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and personnel of the Air Force and the Navy have been deployed for rescue and relief operations.

Both Kerala and Tamil Nadu are threatened by the cyclone.
