Actress Deepika Padukone had joined her husband Ranveer Singh in ‘83’, which is based on India’s 1983 WorldCup tour. She will play Kapil Dev's wife Romi. Ranveer Singh will essay the role of Kapil Dev in the film. Kapil Dev led the WorldCup winning team in 1983.
To prepare for her role, Deepika spent time with Romi Dev to get to know her better.
In an interview with the media, Deepika said that is inspired by Romi's energy, intelligence, knowledge, and sense of humour. She said that Romi expresses herself with a lot of grace and dignity.
She also regarding Romi's role in Kapil Dev's success in his career as a cricketer, along with his drive, commitment and dedication.
She said that Romi helped him stay grounded and provided a strong support system.
This is the fifth time Deepika will be sharing the screen with Ranveer Singh. They started dating from 2013 while doing Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela'. They tied the knot in 2018 in Lake Como, Italy.
Ranveer and Deepika starred together in 'Bajirao Mastani', 'Finding Fanny', and 'Padmaavat'.
Ranveer had said that '83 will be the first where the couple ends up happily ever after.
Deepika said that she does not the real-life equation with Ranveer to affect their work in the film because they will be essaying different characters.
Deepika recently finished shooting 'Chhapaak' which is also her first film as the producer.
