The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning saying coastal Andhra Pradesh (AP), Telangana, Maharashtra, parts of Gujarat, coastal and northern interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe are likely to receive heavy rainfall in the next four-five days.
The alert says a well-marked low-pressure area is lying over the west-central Bay of Bengal and northern AP coast. This is likely to move west and north-westwards across Telangana in the next 2-3 days.
The report said that the monsoon is lying to the south of its normal position, from Ganganagar in western Rajasthan to the Bay of Bengal. The eastern end is likely to remain to the south of the normal position.
There are no signs of monsoon withdrawal from the north-west parts of the country.
