NEW DELHI: Prakash Javadekar, Union environment minister, said that India will not raise its climate ambition under pressure from developed nations.
"India has the right to develop, and its poor have the right to grow," he stressed, speaking at a panel organised at the Embassy of France to mark the Official Visit to India of Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.
Jean-Yves Le Drian visited India to reinforce Indo-French strategic, cultural, and economic ties.
Based on Indian national circumstances, India will do what is needed on climate change and related issues as it has already been.
Objective of the Paris Agreement is to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius or even 1.5 degrees Celsius by the end of this period.
