THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, KERALA: Kerala Governor Mohammed Arif Khan directed the state government employees to submit their affidavits declaring that they do not support the practice of dowry system.
They also have to declare that they have neither given nor taken dowry and the declaration will have to be signed by the wife of the concerned staff.
Governor Mohammed Arif Khan and chief minister Pinrayi Vijayan voiced strongly against the practice of dowry system in the state.
Recently, few deaths were reported in the state linked to dowry harassment, notably that of Vismaya.
Affidavits provided by the employee will be kept in safe custody by the office heads, as directed by the Women and Child development director.
