Kerala Sees 120% Rise In Online Child Sex Abuse, Police Crackdown Begins

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Police have arrested 47 people, including young professionals in the state as part of their covert operation against online child sexual abuse material or CSAM.

Additional Director General of Police Manoj Abraham said that the state saw a 120% rise in online child sexual abuse and 89 cases have been filed as part of the raid. 

The Kerala Police's Countering Child Sexual Exploitation or CCSE team of the Cyberdome delivered analysis and based on that, "Operation P-Hunt_20.1" involved inter-district and inter-department coordination among senior police officers where 117 locations were identified. 

Police officer Abraham said that the COVID lockdown period saw many obscene pictures, videos of children being taken inside houses and flats, later uploaded online.
