Chandrababu Naidu Under House Arrest For Protesting Against Jagan Mohan Reddy

Chandrababu Naidu, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), is placed under house arrest for protesting against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government. He is placed under arrest to prevent him from participating and inciting further protests.

Several members from his party Telugu Desam Party is also placed under house arrests such as Kesineni Nani Vijayawada MP, Gollapalli Surya Rao who was former minister, TDP youth wing president Devineni Avinash, MLC Dinesh Reddy and all.

Naidu's son  Nara Lokesh was also stopped from protesting and dissenting.

He had launched a day-long fast at his riverfront residence at Vundavalli in Amaravati and was about to carry out “Chalo Palnadu” rally in Guntur district when the police arrived to arrest him.

Responding to his arrest, Mr. Babu said that it is a black day for democracy. He added that the police and the authorities cannot control them by arresting them.

Addressing the reporters outside his house, he said that he will continue fasting till 8 pm.

Telugu Desam Party was protesting against the intimidation by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) alleging that they killed eight TDP workers and many faced threats.

TDP workers protested against the arrest saying that they were doing it in a democratic manner and that their fundamental rights are being denied to them.

The ruling party intends to unleash protests against Naidu's former government's violence and people of Atmakur district and Palnadu region, said to be the worst affected will join them.

TDP alleged that houses 127 people in Atmakur village in Palnadu region of Guntur were attacked by the ruling party for supporting TDP. They wanted to rally in solidarity with them.
