The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s narrative on the economic slowdown in the automobile sector, blaming the mindset of millennial and cab offering apps Uber and Ola, did not go well among twitter users.
Many took to Twitter with a hashtag #BoycottMillennials jokes.
Addressing a press conference in Chennai, the Finance Minister pointed out the mind-set of millennials who prefer Olas and Ubers over committing to EMIs to buy cars as one of the reasons for the prevailed economic slowdown in the auto industry sector.
And the government is trying to solve them all, she said.
Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement met with criticism from many quarters of life, including her political rivals.
