In his sixth address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that the government will work for 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant) and people should be vocal for local.

He added that poor families will get 5 kg of rice or wheat and 1 kg chana for free until November.

Under the scheme Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, the free ration will be given to 80 crore people in five months.

The PM also called out people's tendency to break the rules and cause chaos. India was able to be stable when compared to other nations in terms of handling the disease but only as long as people follow the rules.

He urged the citizens to wear facemasks and maintain social distancing.
