KOCHI: Anannyah Kumari Alex, Kerala’s first transgender radio jockey, has been found dead in her Kochi apartment. Police stated that it is a possible case of suicide.
28-year-old had spoken earlier to the media about her sex reassignment surgery, saying that she is a victim of gross medical negligence.
"My private part looks like a piece of meat, it has no resemblance to a vagina. I want to conduct resurgery, I want justice," she said in a recent interview with The Cue.
Police have taken a case of unnatural death and her post-mortem will be conducted at the Government Medical College in Kalamassery.
She was also the first transgender candidate who contested in Kerala Assembly polls.
In her interview, she said how marginalised people like her face injustice and economic difficulties.
"I’m talking as a representative of many others like me. There are scores of people who have been victims of this," she said.
