United Nations humanitarian chief had announced the release of 25 million US dollars from its emergency fund to support women-led organisations that are working on preventing and responding to gender-based violence.
As per reports, 25 million US dollars have gone to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Women.
These two organisations will be channeling at least 30% of it to organisations run by women that prevent violence against women and girls.
The funds will also help those who counsel and rehabilitate victims and survivors with access to medical care, family planning, legal advice, safe spaces, mental health services and counselling, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs's press statement.
