Vinesh Phogat lived upto the status as India’s top female wrestler by winning maiden gold at Asian Wrestling Championships after beating Taipei’s Meng Hsuan Hsieh.
This is also her third gold since her return to the tournament and is headed for the Olympics.
She had previously clinched three silver and four bronze medals.
27-year-old is the daughter of Mahavir Singh Phogat. Like her sisters Geeta and Babita, she was also trained by her father.
Vinesh Phogat made history as the woman wrestler to win a gold medal at the Asian Games 2018.
She is the first Indian Athlete to be Nominated for Laureus World Sports Awards to be held on February 18, 2019.
