Ankhi Das stepped from her role as Facebook’s public policy head in India, South Asia, and Central Asia.
Facebook India Ajit Mohan said Ankhi was leaving Facebook to pursue her interest in public service and lauded her tremendous contributions.
She was in the midst of public anger after a report from the Wall Street Journal revealed that Facebook India was not implementing hate speech policies for politicians belonging to the ruling party at her behest because she wanted to "save" the company’s business prospects.
Facebook had denied the reports at the time. Last week, she appeared in front of the joint parliamentary committee on the issue of data security.
