Critics Find Fouls In Failure To Regard Air Pollution As Key To High Deaths In Minorities

Critics called the failure to consider air pollution as a factor in the higher rates of coronavirus deaths among minority ethnic groups irresponsible. 

Public Health England’s (PHE) report confirmed the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on people from ethnic minorities but it did not mention dirty air and its impact. 

Ethnic minorities from the UK and the US experience higher levels of air pollution, and there is growing evidence around the world linking exposure to dirty air exposure and COVID deaths.

Experts said that long-term exposure to dirty air weakens the lungs and hearts and short-term exposure potentially making viral infection more likely, thus it is a factor that kills more people.
