District Magistrate Swati Bhadauria is leading the Uttarakhand Disaster Work after the Chamoli avalanche, which was a result of a glacier burst.
IAS officer spoke about Uttarakhand rescue mission and its impact.
Prior to this, she had worked as Sub District Magistrate for Mussoorie and Dehradun.
Bhadauria said that she is cooperating with the media and is keeping the nation updated about her activities for the sake of transparency.
So far, as many as 54 people have died in the avalanche which took place as a result of a glacier burst.
Nine bodies have been pulled out from the Adit tunnel at the National Thermal Power Corporation's Tapovan-Vishnugad project site.
Rescue operations are still happening in the area and 150 people are reported as missing.
"Saving people is now possible only with the help of excavators," said DM Swati S Bhadauria.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police, the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force are involved in the Tapovan rescue work.
