COVID Updates: 90K Cases In 24 Hours, Death Toll Over 80K

NEW DELHI: India has recorded over 90,123 cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours and the total tally is 50,20,359. Out of that, 9,95,933 are active cases, 39,42,360 people have recovered and 82,066 people died, according to the Union Health Ministry data. 

Congress party wrote to the Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu demanding a four-hour debate to discuss with the centre about the COVID-19 situation in India. 

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is on the verge of completing its second national sero survey to check the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and the results would be made public by the end of September, said Dr Balram Bhargava, ICMR director-general.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) said that the COVID is affecting the economic and spending activities and projected the Indian economy to contract 9% this fiscal, deeper than its June estimate of 4%.

Globally, there are 2,95,67,306 cases of COVID-19 and out of that, 85,55,587 are active cases, 2,00,76,939 people have recovered and 9,34,780 people died. 

US President Donald Trump said that a coronavirus vaccine may be available within a month.

U.S. based drug developer Novavax Inc said it was doubling its potential Covid-19 vaccine manufacturing capacity to two billion doses.
