India Records 12,830 Fresh COVID-19 Cases, Over 50% From Kerala

NEW DELHI: India has recorded 12,830 cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours and 446 deaths due to the disease. 

There are 3,42,73,300 cases of COVID-19 and out of that, 1,59,272 are active cases, 3,36,55,842 people recovered and 4,53,186 people died. 

Delhi government released data stating that the delta variant of the Sars-CoV-2 virus was detected in 99% of the patient samples from Delhi this month. Indian Sars-CoV-2 Delta variant was found in 54% of the samples that were sequenced in April, and 82% in May.

Sars-CoV-2 is the virus that causes coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Kerala reported 7,427 new cases and 62 deaths., out of the new infections that were reported.

Union ministry for health added that the country's Weekly Positivity Rate (1.18%) less than 2% for the last 37 days and the recovery rate is at 98.20%.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G 20 Summit said that India is ready to produce over 5 billion Vaccines to help the world. 

Italian Premier Mario Draghi made a sharp call to pick up the pace in getting vaccines to poor countries.
