A new study by ‘Nature’ shows us the happening of sleep-like activity in our brain when we lose attention. This was called ‘local sleep’ where our brain enters a state that is similar to sleep.
This happened to both sleep deprived and well rested people.

Out of the 26 people that participated, most of them reported their brain wandering off and thinking about something else or nothing in particular.

These attention lapses have a common origin in their brain, it is very similar to our brain activity when we are about to fall asleep.

It is also noted that these occurrences of local sleep happened more in people with Attention Deficit disorders such as ADHD.
