MUMBAI: Acid attack survivor and activist Laxmi Agarwal said that the film 'Chhapaak' will influence people in a very positive way to change the mindset.
She said that the film shows survivors of acid attacks as true fighters. She said she was also happy that people are making films about real-life struggles as no one spoke of acid attacks survivors until 2013.
She lauded Meghna Gulzar for directing the film and Deepika Padukone for doing the role of a survivor. The movie is based on Laxmi Agarwal's real life and struggles for justice.
At the age of 16, Laxmi Agarwal was attacked by a man, twice her age, with acid for turning down his marriage proposal.
She struggled at first but eventually, she dedicated her life against the sale of acid which was available to the common man at a very cheap rate.
During the media interaction at 'Chhapaak' song launch, Laxmi said that the film will help people understand the struggles of a survivor.
Lyricist Gulzar lauded his daughter Meghna for making the film and said that it is a movement meant for women.
'Chhapaak' is actress Deepika Padukone's first production venture and it releases on January 10.
