'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' To Be Adapted Into Broadway Musical

MUMBAI: Film producer Aditya Chopra announced that he will make his Broadway debut as a director with the musical version of his 1995 blockbuster film 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.' 

"I'm a hardcore cinema guy, I have never done theatre in my life and here I am trying to pull off the craziest ambition of my life," he said. 

The musical will be titled, 'Come...Fall In Love. The DDLJ - Musical.' The Broadway show will be produced by Chopra's Yash Raj Films.

It will feature book and lyrics by Laurence Olivier Award-winner Nell Benjamin of 'Legally Blonde' and 'Mean Girls.'

Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani will serve as composers. Tony and Emmy winner Rob Ashford will choreograph.

Tony winner Derek McLane will design the set with music supervision by Bill Sherman. Adam Zotovich will executive produce the show.

'DDLJ' is one of the most successful Bollywood films of all time. The film propelled both Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol to stardom. 

It was also Aditya Chopra's debut as a film director. His brother and Uday Chopra also shot some sequences for the film.
