Akshay Kumar's Upcoming Film 'Laxmmi Bomb' Faces Boycott

Superstar Akshay Kumar's upcoming Disney+ Hotstar release 'Laxmmi Bomb' faced calls for a boycott for several days on social media. 

Akshay Kumar posted a message on social media against the smear campaign on Bollywood and since then Sushant Singh Rajput fans called him out for supporting Bollywood bullies and drug abuse. Kumar had said that the industry overall is not as bad as it is being projected. 

Similarly, after Tanishq faced right-wing trolls over "love jihad" content, the film 'Laxmmi Bomb' is also being accused of promoting love jihad because Kumar's character is believed to be a Muslim while Kiara Advani is a Hindu.

However, the film has not been released yet. Akshay Kumar's role as a transwoman faced heat because he played the character as a cis-man. At the same time, trans people are caricatured as "scary" people in the trailer.

Akshay Kumar is a supporter of the Modi-led government and has praised several policies by the government. 

Richa Chadha Finally Receives Court-Mandated Apology, Praised By Colleagues

Bollywood actress Richa Chadha finally received the court-mandated apology from actress Payal Ghosh.

Payal Ghosh had accused Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual assault. At the time, in an interview, she said that stars like Richa Chadha made it to Kashyap's films through "sexual favours."

Chadha then demanded unconditional apology over the media trial and defamation. 

She shared court documents with Ghosh's apology. Her colleagues including the likes of Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza and Sophie Choudhury praised her for standing up for herself. 

Vijay Sethupati Faces Heat Over Muttiah Biopic ‘800’

Tamil star Vijay Sethupati released the poster from his upcoming film '800' which is a biopic of Sri Lankan player Muttiah Muralitharan. 

Since then he faced calls for a boycott from the Tamil community because of the Tamil Eelam genocide and oppression in Sri Lanka. 

Vijay Sethupati was trolled for acting in the film by pointing out that Muralidharan was supporting the Sri Lankan government during the war with LTTE. 

Dar Motion Pictures, the producer of the movie, assured that the movie will not hurt the sentiments Sri Lankan Tamil community.

He said that the film '800' is purely a sports biographical film about the legendary cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan.

Muttiah Muralidharan is an Indian origin player and Tamil migrant community and goes on to become the highest wicket-taker of all time as the Sri Lankan player. 

Sethupati did not comment on the controversy yet.

Bollywood Priyanka Chopra expressed her desire to help create more opportunities for brown people in Hollywood. 

She made it big in the industry with her ABC series 'Quantico' and eventually starred in Hollywood flicks like 'Baywatch', 'Isn't It Romantic,' etc. 

She will be seen in the fourth sequel to the 'Matrix' series with Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss. 

Her book 'Unfinished' will hit the shelves next year.
