MUMBAI: Bollywood icon Kajol and South Indian actress Shruti Haasan spoke about the MeToo movement and the impact it created in men's behaviour.
Kajol opined that men have taken seven steps back and continue to do so and are aware of consent. Women are being treated differently on not only films sets but everywhere else.
MeToo movement began in Hollywood after over 90 women accused Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and misconduct. The court recently found the man guilty of sexual assault.
MeToo movement was kickstarted in India in 2018 after actress Tanushree Dutta opened up about the sexual harassment committed by actor Nana Patekar.
Afterwards, several powerful men were exposed such as Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl, M J Akbar and Rajat Kapoor.
Kajol and Shruti Hassan will be starring in a short film 'Devi' chronicles stories of nine women coming from different walks of life. The short film has Neha Dhupia, Neena Kulkarni, Rashaswini Dayama, Mukta Barve, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Sandhya Mhatre, and Rama Joshi.
Kajol was last seen in 'Tanhaji' opposite her husband Ajay Devgan and Saif Ali Khan. 'Tanhaji' is the biggest hit of the year so far.
