MUMBAI: A Bandra court has ordered an FIR against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for posting tweets that are communal in nature.
Order was passed by Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Jaydeo Y Ghule as the court responded to a complaint by petitioner Sahil Ashrafali Sayyed.
Petitioner said that Ranaut is well aware of her influence as a star and has a fan following, therefore her words will be seen and reached out to many people.
Petitioner noted that she is creating divisions between Hindu artists and Muslim artists by maliciously bringing religion into her tweets.
The court said that a thorough investigation by an expert is necessary and directed the Mumbai police to take necessary action against the actor and her sister under relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
The casting director also added that she is continuously defaming Bollywood.
Kangana had tweeted comparing Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) when the police "liked" a defamatory post about her.
She called the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) as "BABUR SENA" when it demolished her office over illegal structuring.
She had mentioned "Pakistan" in several tweets slamming the BMC for demolishing her office for the production company 'Manikarnika' films.
The petitioner sought the registration of the FIR under IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity), 295A (malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings) and 124A (sedition).
Kangana's sister Rangoli's Twitter account was suspended after she tweeted that "mullahs" who attack doctors and secular media must be shot to death.
