BENGALURU: Karnataka court has ordered an FIR (First Information Report) against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut over her tweet allegedly calling protesting farmers terrorists while defending the recently passed controversial farm bills.
A lawyer filed a complaint and Tumakuru district took the action based on it.
Lawyer L Ramesh Naik revealed that the court had directed the jurisdictional police station to register an FIR and investigate.
On September 21st, Kangana Ranaut, who is a vocal supporter of the ruling Narendra Modi led government, tweeted by comparing the farmers who were protesting the law with terrorists who were led by "misinformation" on the laws.
She also called out the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protests which took place earlier this year.
Muslims feared marginalisation or loss of citizenship over CAA which granted Indian citizenship to non-Muslim illegal immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.
When clubbed with NRC, it can lead to the filtering of illegal Muslim immigrants who might be detained or deported.
Kangana Ranaut had been a subject of controversy and media scrutiny. she attacked several of her colleagues in Bollywood after the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput over nepotism and drug abuse.
She trolled several stars like Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Swara Bhaskar, Javed Akhtar, etc.
She recently faced controversy after calling actress Urmila Matondkar a "soft-core porn" actress over a different opinion she had.
She also got entangled with the Maharashtra government and Mumbai police after she compared Mumbai with Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, and her office was demolished by BMC.
She was given Y+ security by the home minister.
