The trailer of the live-action adaptation of Disney's 'Mulan' has been released and it promises a powerful tale of woman power.
'Forbidden Kingdom' fame Liu Yifei essays the role of titular character Hua Mulan and Donnie Yen plays her mentor.
The film is based on 'Ballad of Mulan' which is about a young girl who dresses up like a man to join the military. The emperor rules that a man from all families should join the military. She joins the army to save her father who is not well.
'Mulan' is directed by Niki Caro based on a screenplay by Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Elizabeth Martin.
The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 27, 2020. While the trailer is well received, the film was noted for the lack of humour unlike its animation predecessor and the absence of Mushu.
It is one of the many live-action remakes of Disney films such as 'Maleficent’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, 'Jungle Book', 'Snow White and the Huntsman' and ‘Lion King’.
