Priyanka Chopra took to Twitter to mourn the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins after she was shot dead with a prop gun on the set of "Rust".
She wrote that no one should die on a film set. "I cannot imagine what everyone involved in this tragedy is feeling. My heart goes out to Halyna Hutchins family and everyone who knew her."
Industry professionals held a vigil in New Mexico for the 42-year-old Hutchins. An Albuquerque film worker told Reuters that she was a dynamic person and her death is devastating for everyone.
The movie was being shot in New Mexico, and the gun was fired by actor Alec Baldwin. The movie’s director Joel Souza was also wounded. Alec Baldwin tweeted that he is "fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred." He wrote that there are no words to convey his shock and sadness.
The incident has raised concerns about safety in film sets. Producers of the film have shut down shooting and said that they will be conducting an internal view of the procedures.
The Ukrain-born cinematographer is known for working on films like Snowbound, Blindfire, Archenemy, and The Mad Hatter.
