TRIVANDRUM: Filmmaker V A Shrikumar Menon has been arrested based on a police complaint by actress Manju Warrier for allegedly intimidating her.
Police said that he has been released on bail on two solvent sureties.
The Kerala police searched the residence and office of the filmmaker after getting Manju Warrier's complaint. She said that Shrikumar subjected her to threats and social media attacks. He had also misused the documents of Manju Warrier Foundation and there are documents in his possession.
The police have recorded Manju Warrier's statement at Chavakkadu Magistrate court along with film production manager Saji and producer Antony Perumbavoor.
Manju Warrier played the female lead in V A Shrikumar's ambitious project 'Odiyan'. The film didn't do well critically though it was a commercial success. The film received severe criticisms especially from die-hard fans of Mohanlal who said that the film didn't live up to their expectations.
Shrikumar alleged that people are purposefully trying to defame his film and even accused Manju Warrier's ex-husband Dileep's fans of attacking the film.
He also attacked her for not supporting the film well enough and said that he was responsible for her success in Malayalam after coming back.
After complaining to the police, Manju also reported to Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) about her police complaint against Menon, seeking help.
