Indian Cinema Mourns Loss Of Soumitra Chatterjee

Veteran Bangla actor Soumitra Chatterjee died at the age of 85 and the world of cinema is mourning his demise. 

He is celebrated for his work in films by the legendary Satyajit Ray notably the third part of the Apu trilogy. 

Veteran star Sharmila Tagore and Soumitra began their careers together, starring in 'Apur Sansar.'

Actress Sharmila Tagore spoke about his demise by saying that he is her oldest friend from the industry after Shashi Kapoor. 

Over a period of thirty years, Soumitra Chatterjee and Satyajit Ray worked in 14 films together.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan also paid tribute. 

Soumitra Chatterjee was in the news for suffering from COVID-19 related ailments. He died after a 40 days long fight for his life.

Apart from films, he also loved playing cricketer as recalled by former Bengal allrounder Joydeep Mukherjee.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly also mourned the death of the late actor.
