Diwali or Deepavali is a prominent Indian festival, known popularly as the festival of lights.
Spiritually, it is recognised as "the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance."
It is associated with the goddess Lakshmi who represents property, luck, and wealth.
People light diyas in their homes to welcome goddess Lakshmi to their homes.
In some places, Diwali is celebrated as the day Lord Ram returned to his kingdom Ayodhya with Sita and Lakshmana after defeating Ravana.
Last day is Bhai Dooj or the regional equivalent, which is dedicated to the bond between sister and brother.
Diwali is celebrated by lighting diyas, making and distributing sweets amongst their family and friends.
