BENGALURU: Kerala has been adjudged the best-governed state in India while Uttar Pradesh ended at the bottom in the large states category as per Public Affairs Index-2020.
The Bengaluru-based not-for-profit organisation the Public Affairs Centre, headed by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K Kasturirangan ranked the states based on their performances.
States were ranked on governance performance and sustainable development.
In the list, the first four states that were ranked include; Kerala (1.388 PAI Index point), Tamil Nadu (0.912), Andhra Pradesh (0.531) and Karnataka (0.468).
With negative points, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Bihar.
UP recently saw a large number of law and order and governance issues, notably with their handling of the Hathras rape and victims' body.
