Mumbai Traffic Lights Feature Woman To Promote Gender Inclusivity

MUMBAI: Mumbai authorities have greenlighted the decision to change some of its traffic signals to represent women and promote equality and inclusivity.

This gesture earned praises including from the United Nations Women.

As a symbolic gesture to represent women, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) changed the male stick figures on traffic lights and signboards on 120 pedestrian crossings in the Dadar area and the 'G North' ward of Mumbai.

Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray announced this decision which is also part of BMC's cultural spine project.
