Author Ravinder Singh and Durjoy Dutta got into a social media brawl which turned out to be a massive April fool prank.
Dutta took to Instagram to accuse his colleague Ravinder Singh of plagiarism and that his new book 'Write Me A Love Story' was based on Dutta's idea.
Singh then denied his allegations and accused him of being a child and "looking like a fool."
Later, they both showed up for an Instagram live and told their fans it was a prank.
Several of his followers understood that Dutta and Singh were part of an elaborate April fool prank as part of the book promotion.
However, others slammed him for cheap publicity and mocking the issue of plagiarism.
"My teenage and early college days were full of your and DD’s books. Even today, I recommend your and DD’s books. But after this, not anymore. Because this PR stunt is unethical and a joke to the people who really become victims of Plagiarism. Plagiarism is a grave charge. God be with you and DD no one of you has to face it in real life ever. You and DD lost a true admirer and fan today," wrote a user. Several of his fans expressed similar views.
