Cyclone Amphan: PM Modi In Kolkata To Stock Of Damages

KOLKATA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kolkata to take stock of the situation in the cyclone Amphan devastated area. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee received him at the airport.

PM will conduct aerial surveys and take part in review meetings in the two states to discuss various aspects of relief and rehabilitation.

The cyclone hit West Bengal as a state hard, along with Odisha. The death toll rose to 80 and over six lakh people were evacuated. 

CM Banerjee said that the PM will conduct an aerial survey in South and North 24 Parganas to check the length of the disaster.

She added that Cyclone Amphan should be treated as a national disaster.

PM Modi was accompanied by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Babul Supriyo, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, and Debashree Chaudhuree.

NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) has been doing restoration Work at Uluberia, Howrah, West Bengal.
