A United States official said that the COVID-19 will become less severe in summer because the novel coronavirus appears to weaken more quickly when exposed to sunlight, heat, and humidity.

William Bryan, acting head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, cited the researchers and said that the virus survives best indoors and in dry conditions, and loses potency when temperatures and the humidity rise.

The United States is currently the epicentre of the pandemic with 7,38,884 active cases and death toll nearing 50,000.

The lethality of the Coronavirus is questioned because it is thriving in warm-weather places like Singapore.
