COVID Updates: India Records Highest Single Day Spike, PM Reacts To Fire At Vijayawada Facility

NEW DELHI: A total of 64,399 COVID-19 (novel Coronavirus disease) cases recorded in 24 hours have pushed the total tally to 21,53,010.

So far in India, there are 6,28,747 active cases, 14,80,884 people have recovered and 43,379 people died. 

Actor Abhishek Bachchan has recovered from COVID-19 and has been discharged from Nanavati hospital. 

Actor Sanjay Dutt, after complaining of breathlessness, was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital but tested negative for COVID-19.

A hotel that was being used as a COVID-19 facility in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh caught fire, killing at least 7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah expressed their grievances. As per reports, the fire was caused by a short circuit.

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot ordered officials to use reliable kits such as Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) to detect Sars-Cov-2 or novel Coronavirus.

Globally, there are 1,96,36,388 cases of COVID-19 and out of that, 69,71,169 are active cases, 1,19,38,444 people have recovered and 7,26,775 people died. 

Victoria, Australia’s second-most populous state, reported the worst COVID-19 situation after reporting over 17 deaths in a day.

Germany reported a total of 215,891 COVID cases and 9,196 deaths. 

Brazil has reported over one lakhs deaths due to COVID-19.
