COVID Updates: India Records Over 22 Lakh Cases, Over 1000 Deaths

NEW DELHI: The total number of COVID-19 cases have crossed over 22 lakhs and over 1000 deaths have been reported in a single day. After reporting over 62,064 cases in 24 hours, the total tally is now 22,15,074 and out of that, 6,34,945 are active cases, 15,35,743 people have recovered and 44,386 people died.

With the current trajectory of daily number of cases, India has become the country with the highest number of daily infections. India is the third-worst affected nation after the US and Brazil. 

The World Health Organisation renewed its invite to countries to join its COVAX facility, an international alliance aimed at the development and manufacture of novel Coronavirus vaccines.

COVID-19 cases in Karnataka breached the 80,000 mark on Sunday with 5,985 new infections.

Globally, there are 1,98,54,583 cases of COVID-19 and out of that, 70,07,751 are active cases, 1,21,15,736 people have recovered and 7,31,096 people died. 

Mexican health ministry reported 4,376 new infections and 292 additional fatalities, bringing the total to 480,278 cases and 52,298 deaths.
