Maneka Gandhi said that her non-inclusion in the top body of the party does not reduce her stature. Senior politicians Maneka Gandhi and her son Varun Gandhi were dropped from the BJP's national panel last week.
The 65-year-old told the ANI that she is satisfied to be in the BJP for 20 years. "My first religion is to serve. It is more important that I get a place in the hearts of people". Maneka Gandhi is known to be sympathetic to farmers' protests against the new farm laws introduced by the Centre.
She was visiting her parliamentary constituency, Sultanpur. Gandhi stated that new people also should get opportunities and there are other senior leaders who also did not get a place in the executive committee.
Varun Gandhi was also dropped from the national executive. Some sources have alleged that Mr. Gandhi's criticism over the events at Lakhimpur Kheri did not go down well with the top leadership. He brushed off the omission and said that he had not attended any meeting of the executive committee in five years.
