NEW DELHI: India has reported 63,371 cases of COVID-19, pushing the total tally to 73,70,468 and out of that, 8,04,528 are active cases, 64,53,779 people recovered and 1,12,161 people died.
Bihar minister Kapil Deo Kamat of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) died at Patna’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences died due to COVID-19.
Dr Sanjeev Kumar, nodal officer Covid-19 at AIIMS-Patna, said that he suffered from renal failure.
Earlier, BJP’s Vinod Singh died after suffering a brain haemorrhage, after recovering from COVID-19.
Veteran singer Kumar Sanu has tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed by his team. He was supposed to travel to Los Angeles to visit his family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed health authorities to scale up COVID-19 testing and serosurveys.
He added that the facility to get tested regularly and speedily at a low cost must be available to all at the earliest.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that India is expected to have a COVID-19 vaccine in a few months. The vaccine will reach people in the next six months.
World Health Organization's chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan opined that young and healthy people should be prepared to wait their turn for immunization and it might be delayed till 2022.
Vulnerable people or at high risk will be given priority in terms of getting the vaccine.
Globally, there are 3,89,14,729 cases of COVID-19 and out of that, 1,09,31,305 are active cases of the disease, 2,68,85,251 people have recovered and 10,98,173 people died.
