NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to express his condolence to the families of the victims of the Bhiwandi building collapse and assured that necessary assistance will be provided.

A multi-story building collapsed in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi, killing 11 people, as per reports. 20 people who have been trapped in it were rescued by a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
According to Pankaj Ashiya, commissioner of Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC), the building was over 30 years old and had 24 flats.
He added that the owner was served notice recently. They fear that more people are trapped under the rubble.
They are not sure how many flats have been occupied.
