NEW DELHI: Union minister Pratap Sarangi said that all Indian citizens will be provided with free vaccines. His comments also came as a response to the opposition who criticised BJP for politicizing the COVID-19 pandemic in Bihar elections.
BJP kicked up a controversy by including free COVID-19 vaccines in their Bihar election manifesto.
Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the announcement was in order.
Sarangi dismissed the comments regarding the politicisation of the pandemic by saying that vaccines will be given to all citizens, not just election-bound Bihar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced that all citizens will be given free vaccines.
Modi said in his interview that Indian scientists are in the process of developing several vaccines, undergoing clinical trials that showed good results.
